Ben Rubinger worked desktop support for several large offices at age 14, fixing systems and installing hardware wherever he went. Since then, he has scrubbed HTML, designed logos and websites, vocally percussed with an a cappella group, and stayed in school for degrees in Computer Science. The study time allowed him opportunity to write software that processes the Earth, explores new forms of interactive literature, and improves itself as part of an ambitious (prototype) artificial intelligence system.
Ben’s most recently completed project is Derivative Artist, a combination of artificial intelligence and graphics filter that studies the works of other artists, then uses what it has learned to create art of its own. Born in Ohio, Ben currently resides outside of Philadelphia, where he is applying to doctorate programs, creating a startup, seeking a day job, and drinking with friends.
