LG Catches Our Eyes With The E2360 LCD Monitor

LG has made a name for themselves over the past few years across multiple product categories. Now we have one of their monitors to join the family of washers and dryers, not to mention vacuum cleaners like the one we recently tested and loved.

The LG E2360 Monitor encompasses impressive energy efficiency credentials and as well as flexible input options and even some nifty LED backlighting. A twenty-three inch LCD screen provides crisp picture and quality, full 1080p and a 16×9 aspect ratio, perfect for most films. It’s big enough to serve as a TV replacement for those of you looking to move to one bigger screen, and thin enough to look sexy on a desk- only 12.9mm thick.

This comes at a time when shoppers comparatively look for not only the best deals but for a relatively efficient big ticket item that can pass on some long-term savings to the end user. Supposedly, this particular monitor consumes almost 45% less power than similar standard models. For those unfamiliar with the Energy Star qualifications, which this model meets, you can check out their website and also see how the EPA determines which products meet the stringent guidelines set forth for a vast array of consumer goods.

The new E60, which comes in a 22-inch size as well, lists a 5,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, or for the more typical and common static contrast, 1000:1. Either way, we found it to be extremely bright- enough to make us need to dial it down. We calibrated using some graphic artist tools, and then tried both some Call of Duty:Black Ops and the ever-entrancing Toy Story 3. The fast 5ms refresh rate is pretty impressive, and we liked the inclusion of the three typical connectivity options- DVI, HDMI, and VGA. Only a VGA cable is included though, unfortunately- you’re on your own for the others. A three year warranty is better than some competitors, but the relative lack of tilt adjustment on the stand was a bit annoying. Viewing angle was pretty wide though, which almost made up for it.

We found the E2360 listed on Amazon for $289, though it was unavailable at press time. It’s definitely a step up from other monitors of the same size, and a decent value considering the reduced energy bills over time and excellent styling.
