Blow Them Away with Husqvarna’s 125BVX Leaf Blower/Vacuum
One of my favorite images of fall is watching young kids have a ball in a big pile of leaves. It’s so sweet in its simplicity. Husqvarna’s 125BVX 28cc handheld leaf blower and vacuum is a great way to create piles of leaves for all the neighborhood kids. The 125BVX blowing capacity is fantastic – all 170 mph of it – and it features a two-stroke gas-powered engine. Best of all, it’s pretty quiet, meaning you can use it without upsetting the neighbors (or the family).

Many lawn tools are notorious for not starting easily, if at all. This leaf blower features a starting system that Husqvarna claims makes starting the blower 40% easier than other leaf blowers. So far, it has mostly lived up to that claim. We were able to start the blower each time with little problem. Because the blower tube is in line with the handle, it results in less hand and wrist fatigue, which some smaller wrists certainly appreciated. It’s also lightweight, weighing less than 10 pounds.
The 125BVX has a cruise control function so the trigger does not have to be held at all times while in use. We were able to use the flare nozzle when we wanted to use the blower at a higher speed, and it comes with a Vac-Kit for vacuuming and mulching lawn debris. Mulching knives reduce material in the bag and increase capacity while the vacuum is in use. While we love the idea of a blower and vacuum in one, we were a little disappointed by the vacuum’s performance. Suction power wasn’t that strong and leaves and twigs would clog the vacuum periodically, especially when items were wet- which happens pretty often.
Retailing for around $179, the 125BVX is a powerful leaf blower with nice features that make the device easier to use than other leaf blowers on the market. However, as stated, we weren’t overly impressed with its vacuuming abilities. It is important to note that the blower is not for sale in California, as it is non-CARB compliant (it doesn’t meet the California Air Resource Board standards).
