Loving LG's Kompressor LuV300B Vacuum
We can’t help but feel a little flutter in our hearts when technology makes our lives easier, especially when it pertains to mundane chores. LG’s Kompressor LuV300B standup vacuum cleaner is a great example of technology making life better. The Kompressor’s high-tech good looks were the first thing we noticed, but this vacuum is much more than a pretty face.

It is evident that LG put a lot of time into the engineering of this vacuum. For one thing, it employs the world’s first motorized compression system, which compacts the debris collected in the canister while the vacuum’s being operated, allowing significantly more vacuuming before the canister needs to be emptied. The Kompressor has serious suction power, much more than any other vacuum we have used, including other high end vacuums such as Dyson. It was amazing/slightly gross to see how much hidden dirt and debris the Kompressor picked up. They call it DualForce suction technology, which features two air pathways to pick up dirt on both sides of the vacuum head, in addition to the typical suctioning from the center of the vacuum head. The side air pathways cleaned the edges of our office better than traditional vacuums. Of course, the names- from Kompressor to LuV to DualForce did make us giggle a bit.
And then we got serious again. One of the most frustrating parts of vacuuming is being confined to a particular space and carefully treading a path, lugging your unit around. With this model, the combination of the 40 foot power cord and the detachable wand made us able to clean up quickly, without much hassle- simply station the base in the middle of a room or a hallway. They call it ‘Click ‘N Go’ and by simply pushing a button, the magnetic hose, expandable wand, and mini turbine unit come out of the unit. We also appreciated that you could control the vacuum’s power without returning to the base. The RF controls allow you to turn the brush roll on and off, as well as change the suction power, all while vacuuming. It was great to go from vacuuming carpet to wood floor without missing a beat.
The turbine is great for picking up pet hair, while the wand is great for getting to ceiling cobwebs, cleaning drapes, and stairs. One of our only complaints with the vacuum is the minor difficulty in getting the wand to reattach to the base, which took us a few tries.
Did we mention that the Kompressor is bagless- cheaper in the long run, and easier as well. Simply remove the tank from the vacuum and with a click of a button, the tank empties. The container snaps back into place just as easily. While some other bagless vacuums don’t clean themselves very well, we were impressed by how well the unit cleans up after itself. On the negative side, the Kompressor is a bit heavy and bulky. However, the vacuum’s large back wheels and maneuverability counteract its heft.
The Kompressor is only one of two brands of vacuums to be designated as asthma and allergy friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, and features a permanent HEPA filter that captures 99.97% of allergens. We’ve recently tested a few filtration systems, and a good vacuum makes a world of difference.
This is definitely a great high-end vacuum, for folks with larger places or more regular/serious needs. The Kompressor can be found on internet retailers including Amazon for $319. We suspect items like this may be discounted around Black Friday, so keep your eyes open if you want a superb vacuum that will blow your perceptions of vacuum cleaners away.
