Brunton Provides Opportunity At Inopportune Times
If you are like me, the thought of “roughing it” for a weekend in some remote back country woodlands while leaving your favorite electronics at home is simply unacceptable. Sure, I can pack a GPS, iPod, DS, PSP and cell phone, but without power how long will any of those last in the wilderness? Two, four, maybe 8 hours? That barely covers the time it takes for my husband to set up the tent. Fortunately for those of you avid outdoorsman and even those of us who never stray outside the concrete jungle, the Brunton Sync Portable Power Device provides a solution to this otherwise vexing problem.

The Sync comes equipped with a 9,000 mAh lithium polymer battery, a 12V power adapter, car adapter, and a built-in USB 2.0 cable. These accessories allow the Brunton to be charged from your car, an electrical outlet, or even via laptop through the USB cable. For those true campers among us the Brunton can be paired with a solar power pack that allows recharging using solar power, an added bonus to those greensmen among us.
The unit itself weighs in at just less than one pound; official specs put it at 13.4 oz. The lithium battery can hold enough energy for approximately 33 hours of charging time and comes with a handy LED power display so you know precisely how much power you are using. Put in simpler terms, I could charge my smartphone more than 6 times without ever having to recharge the Brunton. I’m not sure even we here talk enough to use that much battery power on a week-long getaway.
The Sync can be purchased for about $122 on Amazon.
Also from Brunton, the ADC Pro is the latest in portable weather technology for those who are seriously into their outdoor activities.

The ADC is an Atmospheric Data Center condensed to fit in the palm of your hand. Essentially it’s like holding your own personal Channel 10 weatherman, only better, because the Brunton is actually accurate with its information (we sometimes wish we could be in the one job where you’re paid to be wrong). The unit provides a wide variety of information including temperature, weather conditions, future weather trends, barometric pressure, wind speed, humidity, heat index, dew point, and also acts as a clock, stopwatch and an altimeter.
The Brunton ADC proposes useful opportunities for a wide variety of activities. Campers will find it helpful for picking an ideal location to set up camp. Hikers will find it helpful to track changes in temperature and barometric pressure in order to avoid getting caught in a late summer storm. Firearm aficionados will find the air pressure and wind gauge helpful in gauging air conditions during outside target practice. There is even a built in Ski Run feature for tracking vertical distance when you hit the slopes!
Retailing at around $100 the Brunton is a little pricey for your typical Sunday stroll. However, for the serious outdoorsman who needs to keep up on the weather, the Brunton is a decent niche value. Available widely for around $96. We say adios to slumming it in the woods.
