Power up the Metro Vac for a Cleaner Car
Vacuuming my car has never been a top priority. Cleaning in general is not my strong suit, but my pet peeve with vacuuming cars has also been the annoyingly long hose and nozzle that make it impossibly hard to get in those hard to reach crevices. Let’s face’s it- cars have a million little nooks and crannies.

Luckily for all of us who can’t seem to get those hard to reach spots, the Metro Vacuum VM4BS500 Professional Stainless Steel 120V, 500-Watt High Performance Hand Vac can get the job done.
The extra power comes from a new state of the art motor, and isn’t cheap plastic but stainless steel, making this a force to be reckoned with. We appreciated the reasonably light weight (2.7 pounds) because lugging heavy vacuums is not conducive to cleaning.
We also tried this vacuum on a few other surfaces aside from our automobile- a staircase and our deskspace. It did an excellent job of picking up dirt and just the general fragments in cleaning. Quite powerful for it’s size! Though the back end doubled as a blower, it wasn’t as strong as say, an actual blower, but did a decent job. Though the construction was sublime, we did have some problems with the attachments staying on. Without specific indents for the nozzles, they were difficult to keep them on.
Our biggest pet peeve was although the Metro Vacuum did come with a power unit, crevice tool, dust brush, and upholstery nozzle, they failed to include the 3 foot flex hose! What made it even more irritating was that Amazon does not carry the hose attachment. However, if you purchase a slightly different model, the VM6B500, it does include the flexible hose and a shoulder strap in addition to what the VM4BS500 comes with.
The filters were the usual paper-type, which offers some advantages and disadvantages- certainly, the filters are inexpensive but do add up a bit over time (or add hassle). Two filters were included and we were able to reuse, but we have been a bit spoiled by the filter-less models that we’ve been testing.
One other thing of note: the vacuum is made in the USA. And you can purchase the vacuum at Amazon for around $63 and the hose attachment and replacement filters from Autogeek.Net
If you are looking for a household vacuum, look no further than the Verilux UV Sanitizing Vac. Decent for low pile carpet and solid floors, it uses UV light to offer some sterilization.
