Weatherproof Your iPhone While Bicycling. Mount it With the Dahon BioLogic Bike Mount for iPhone
We can all appreciate bike riding and the goodness of exercise. In the Bay Area and many other cities, biking is a great, inexpensive, and eco-friendly way to commute. What we can’t picture is leaving our iPhone and all our apps behind. Thanks to Dahon (pronounced Dawn) we no longer have to with the BioLogic Bike Mount.

After we put on our proper riding attire, complete with the requisite bike helmet Rudy Project Zuma bike helmet, we were ready to mount the BioLogic to our handlebars. Our only gripe is though the mounting installation is simple, we felt it didn’t tighten down enough on the handlebars. It works like a screw clamp, except all the components consist of a cheaper plastic. It is difficult to get enough extra tightness to cinch it down. Because of this, swiping through the screen or pressing the return button through the screen made the iPhone rotate on our handlebars. We thought maybe using an additional rubber piece would help, but again, we were concerned about riding extra hard or on vigorous trails.
We felt that though this fills a substanstial need, some overall improvement could be shown in the design. We felt the price was a little steep for as insubstantial as it felt and were more inclined to want a case like the RichardSolo Custom Case that felt durable and more sturdy. Be that as it may, the BioLogic did have some positive points, and hope to see some improvements in durability in the future.
It should be noted that that the BioLogic is compatible with iPhone, iPhone 3G, and iPhone 3Gs . We would also like to mention that the bike mount allowed us to use our iPhone in portrait or landscape mode and if you have an iPhone 3GS, you can take video while riding. We found some pretty impressive mullets and 80’s tie-dye that would’ve been a sure Youtube hit. It is fully compatible with the BioLogic ReeCharge.
The BioLogic is silicone lined for shock resistance with a fully waterproof jacket. We were finally glad a weatherproof addition came for those of us who ride rain or shine.
The BioLogic allowed us to track our GPS position, the distance we traveled, and our speed, all while riding. Our results weren’t as impressive as we would have hoped. It would seem the hills of SF made us feel like we have traveled farther than we subsequently have.
We found the BioLogic Bike Mount online at Amazon for $54.
