Bernzomatic Fights Anything With Fire
It may look like a small drill, but be careful- the Bernzomatic Quickfire Hand Torch offers a lot of heat in a pretty small package. You’ve probably seen propane torches before, near a grill, or perhaps soldering- we get by just fine with matches at the grill and usually solder only electronics, but for larger jobs like pipes and plumbing it’s perfect (and even essential). Also, perhaps you just really want to get your crème brulee done fast?
This compact tool offers all of the heat of a larger version, in a package that’s 40% smaller than many. When we say hot, what do we mean? Well, according to the company, up to 3600 degrees! And it’s adjustable, via a rear knob, allowing you to push the Max Power Propylene fuel out at a rate of your choice. The fuel and cylinders are rather special, a relatively new system but helpfully backwards compatible- and isn’t only propane, but a mix of it with propylene.
The Quickfire is lightweight, thanks to the plastic body, but a rubberized grip adds decent ergonomics and a lock button allows you to take your finger off of the trigger when needed for a longer task. At $70, it seems a bit pricey, but it does come with one decently-sized fuel cylinder. We used it for a while without running out of fuel, and also should note that the head cools down surprisingly quickly, always a good thing. A well designed tool is a thing of beauty, and the Quickfire can best just about any torch out there.
