Quick Hits: Hexbug Ant

What comes in five colors, scurries about, and has gears? The Hexbug Ant- a cute, palm-sized insectoid robot, part of a series of similar creepy-crawlies like the Inchworm and the Crab. Ours was green, but they are also available in pink, red, blue, and orange. Batteries included, this model will run forward until it touches something (or something touches it). Great for scaring pets!

At $10, they’re an easy gift for the teen (or adult) who needs more robots in their life- and most do. We think it’s only a matter of time before they start communicating, then reproducing, but at least the bright colors and whirring noises will give us plenty of warning. Fun packaging too. Available online and in some stores, and we’ve even seen them at science museums.
