Datexx: Funny Name, Interesting Gizmos

Alright, so Datexx prefers the term “innovative electronic products”. We call them gadgets or gizmos. Either way, it’s an odd group of items available on their site, categorized into “Money Savers”, “Time Savers”, “Smart Travel”, and the intriguing “Hybrid”- which turns out to simply be a line of calculators. A bit disappointing, to be sure.

The naming problems continue, with the hyperbolic “Miracle Cube Timer”. On one hand, it’s just a timer, and you can set it to 5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes only. On the other hand, it is pretty simple- electronic, batteries not included- but with a clever twist. You simply turn the cube so that your desired time is on top, and… well, wait for the timer to go off. The timer beeper doesn’t sound all that great, we confess, but the numbers are quite large, making it good for older folks. $16, available online.

The Sentina light is a smart idea, made well, that can definitely come in handy. Basically, it is a night light/motion-activated light that also automatically turns on in case of a power outage and can be used as a flashlight for up to 8 hours. It uses LEDs and internal rechargeable batteries and the nightlight section is appropriately dim, while the brighter beam points upward for more illumination. Basically, we see no reason why every nightlight or motion-activated light shouldn’t also work this way, though we did notice that when power was shut off during the daytime that the light still turned on automatically. $30, available online.
