Cozying Up With LoveSac
When my brother visited and saw my new piece of furniture he said, “Ah, the gamer chair.” The LoveSac chair is a sleek, modified bean bag chair, allowing you back and neck support when plopping yourself into one of the timeless cozy chairs of all time.

Unlike the bean bag chairs of old, this baby is sewn for ergonomic comfort, stuffed with a cozy memory foam-like material, and comes with attachments like attachable headrests and cup holders. Surprisingly, the chairs come in the mail at about a sixth of their final size and it is up to the consumer to stuff and, uh, fluff.
It does indeed seem ideal for gaming, allowing you to set your ideal distance from the screen, tilting your head ever so slightly up towards the action, arm stuffing so that your hands are supported while holding the controller. LoveSac knows its audience. The version we tested out was the 4-foot CitySac with a plush suede cover, which is slightly larger than the 3-foot GamerSac- and either version seemed ideal for marathon gaming or TV watching. You may not entirely like the distinctive vertical stripe that runs across the item, but don’t be surprised if that was integral to the engineering allowing the bag to sit upright.
The downsides of having a bean bag chair in general is that it takes up a lot of space for the people it accommodates. The CitySac can’t easily accommodate more than one but takes up just a little more room than typical comfy chairs. Also, though very comfy, these chairs shift around much more than other chairs. The stuffing moves about, the overall physique of the chair droops with time and gravity. Every once in a while these chairs just have to be fluffed up and modified to fit you the way they’re meant to, and with LoveSac, since they’re meant to face a particular direction, it becomes extra important that the stuffing is distributed correctly.
In addition to single person “sacs,” LoveSac also offers sactionals large enough to be called couches. Their “The Big One” sac is pictured with three people comfortably. They are also coming out with a “PillowSac” which appears to have a comfy faux-suede exterior over pretty much a giant pillow. It looks awesome. Prices for these items range from $100 (for a basic KidSac) to almost $1000 (for the comfy couches), with most in the $200-$400 range, and vary depending on what both size, accessories, but also depending on the material for your cover. We recommend choosing something durable!
As a sidenote, we hear LoveSac’s attention to design is expanding out beyond retail too. In mid-November they will be outfitting the Shattuck Cinemas in Berkeley with LoveSac furniture. Apparently LoveSac did the same in Dallas at the Landmark Theater, which you can check out here.
