Snack better? Thank you Sahale, I think I will.

There are many reasons to extol the virtues of nuts. Walnuts are full of antioxidants that can increase memory. Almonds are low in fat and high in vitamin E, protein and fiber. Macadamia nuts are high in monounsaturated fats, which can help protect your body against heart disease. The list is long and impressive. Let’s face it though, left to their own devices, nuts can be kind of…boring.
Enter Sahale Snacks. This very thoughtful company went and dressed nuts up in a way that makes them quite enjoyable to eat. There is no “lightly salted” or “dry roasted” here. Instead you’ll find Soledad Almonds, which have dates, apples, balsamic vinegar and cayenne pepper. If almonds aren’t what you’re in the mood for try Valdosta Pecans, Sing Buri Cashews or Dauphine Walnuts. Each has a nice balance of sweet, salty and spicy. In all there are six varieties of nut blend.
If that wasn’t enough, Sahale Snacks is gearing up to release a new line of nuts onto the market. Glazed nuts, of which I got a sneak peek (taste) this evening.

The Pomegranate Vanilla Cashews are subtle, and are in fine keeping with a sweet and salty balance. Almonds with Cranberries, Honey and Sea Salt are tasty, though not quite as memorable as some of the other nuts. The crowed jewel of the new line is the PB&J Almonds. It seems that it is possible to capture the exact essence of a PB&J sandwich in a bag of nuts. I am confident that these will appeal to even the most particular of snack seekers. (Confident because I have one next to me who exclaimed “These are awesome, and I don’t even like almonds!”)
The nuts come in both 2oz. and 5oz. packages, and can be found at your larger bulk-stores like Costco or Sam’s Club in 15oz. packages. Like most snack foods that use high-quality ingredients, they can be a bit pricey, though I often find them on sale at my local supermarket. Next time you want more flavor or variety out of your nut, give these a shot.
